John GeorgeJohn is the Principal of Standard Edge. A financial and corporate-oriented professional with wide and successful experience in the management and advisory of business in domestic and international markets. John is a hands-on professional with a high rate of achievement and an appetite for new challenges.

With over 25 years experience in the accounting, commercial and private equity industries, John has been involved in both small and large advisory work during his career.

He started his career with a big four accounting firm working on taxation and management consulting projects. He then moved to a senior role with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission concentrating on a range of high profile investigations of corporate collapses in Australia.

John studied the strengths and weaknesses of strategy, management discipline and the financial rigour of organisations and for his contributions to regulatory and compliance advancement, John was nominated as a finalist for Young CPA of Year.

Later, he became managing partner of a top 100 accounting firm specialising in mergers /acquisitions, capital raising, financial accounting and audit matters.

By the age of 32, John accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer of an ASX listed company becoming one of the youngest CFO’s in Australia. John co-managed the financial and strategic direction for a company stretching over 34 offices worldwide, employing 2000 people and a turnover exceeding $600 million.

He founded Standard Edge to advise small business and utilise his extensive knowledge and experience to help owners develop the skills and disciplines needed to compete in the new global economy.

He is in constant contact with economists, property experts, corporate analysts and bankers so that clients receive the most informative and relevant information. He also presents topical issues to business networks, banks, accountants and financial planners in an incisive and interesting manner.

John is an active community worker and is a board member of the Investment Fund for Bravehearts, Australia’s leading child protection advocate.

John is also Chairman of the sub-committee Endowment Fund of the Royal Brisbane Womens Foundation.

He also holds a board position as a Non Executive Director of Shine Lawyers Ltd, the third largest plaintiff litigation firm in Australia and one of the nation’s highest performing law firms.
